[4 Management: Obtaining a copy of the specifications]

Can anyone obtain a copy of the specifications?
Regardless of whether you are a CIPA member or not, we have limited access to these specifications to corporations for the purpose of the development, manufacture or sale of products implementing PTP-IP, who must complete the prescribed procedure to enable them to obtain the specifications. For research and similar purposes, it is possible to look over the following documentation to gain details of PTP-IP.
> WTO/TBT Public Draft

What procedure is required to obtain a copy of the specifications?
The following procedure is necessary.

1. The following forms must be downloaded and then must be submitted to the CIPA after entering the necessary information therein: Questionnaire for CIPA DC-005 (hereinafter, the Questionnaire); Agreement for CIPA DC-005-2005 (hereinafter, the Agreement); STATEMENT FOR CIPA DC-005-2005 (hereinafter, the Statement)

2. Once the Questionnaire, the Agreement and the Statement have been checked by the CIPA, and if all conditions prescribed by the CIPA have been met, 10 (ten) access IDs that are necessary for downloading the specifications are issued and sent via email to the address specified in Article 8 (Notice) of the Agreement.

Information pertaining to the submission of the Statement:
For corporations, who are members of the CIPA and PTPIP Sub - Working Group, and their affiliates, it is not necessary to submit the Statement, as we have already received the Statement from such corporations.

3. Download the specifications according to the instructions given in the email stated in 2 above. [If you need the detailed information, please click here]

We plan to obtain the specifications soon. How much will it cost?
There is no cost involved to obtain the specifications if the prescribed procedure is followed.
Note, however, that the cost of sending us the Questionnaire, the Agreement and the Statement is to be borne by the applicant.

Approximately how long will it take to obtain the specifications once the necessary forms (the Questionnaire, the Agreement and the Statement) have been submitted?
If the conditions prescribed by the CIPA have been met, the access IDs necessary for downloading the specifications will be issued and sent typically within 6 - 7 working days after receipt of CIPA via e-mail to the address specified in Article 8 (Notice) of the Agreement.

When the specifications are needed immediately, would you accept the necessary forms (the Questionnaire, the Agreement and the Statement) being sent via fax and the originals then to be sent by mail?
No, we would not accept them being sent in this way.
