DSC Format WG is started
....Camera information for Printer Output to Open Standard |
Image files captured by DSC and related information
are stored in accordance with Exif format, which was
proposed by Japan and standardized as ISO12234-1 Annex
C, then the data files are handled in accordance with
DCF standard, which was also proposed by Japan.
However, there pointed out such requirements as follows.
- Requirements
for functional extension of Exif/DCF have been raised
as technical advances of DSC.
- Exif/DCF have already
provided the structures to store various information
sets which reflect intentions of cameramen into
image file.
However, expecting future increase of needs for
photo printing, there required further improvement
within these structures to take more information
effective for photo finishing process.
- These information sets are desirable to easily provide sufficient image quality for customers, making the best use of characteristics of printing media as well as technologies in printing.
- Therefore, these information sets shall be open system to be utilized by any output device venders, not to be dedicated to particular output device.
To realize these needs described above, JCIA established a new WG to develop a revised version of Exif/DCF in cooperation with JEITA (Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association).
